Despite finding this to be a well-written book, I just can't recommend it. In many ways, Mr. Solomon's deductions about mental illness, primarily depression, were too sweeping. I've learnt over the years that each case and treatment has to be fine tuned, and that what works for one person, won't work for another. Still, there are some very valid and pertinent points in this and it does make a good jumping off point to understanding depression and how it affects people's lives. Three stars overall.
