This was one that I really wanted to like, but the story is so flat and scattered that it is only in a few places where the storytelling actually takes hold. Think of Snow White intersects with Donkeyskin and you get a vague idea of the story. As with nearly every novel that Lackey writes we have abandoned/abused/misunderstood teenager discovering that they have extraordinary powers and must go out to save the world. Sigh. And as usual with Lackey, good is always perfect and bad is always over the top evil. It would be nice if the formula changed now and then. Only three stars this time, not recommended.
