A woman of a certain age who has three cats underfoot, and has the dream of filling her passport with stamps. Books, classical music, tea, cats, movies, art, fancy needlework, and anything else I can think of.
A very good, very descriptive novel set in the hothouse environment of an Italian Renaissance court. Barbara of Austria comes to Ferrara to be the second wife of the reigning Duke, Alfonso d'Este; and amid all of the extravagance and wealth lurks a dangerous secret -- the murder of the first duchess, Lucrezia di Medici, and it may well be that Alfonso is the murderer. A great tangle of historical fiction and solid mystery thriller. This one gets a highly recommended from me, and five stars.
